What's the difference between SHORT and FULL STROKE?

The SHORT STROKE configuration is used to minimize the risks that come with using weaker springs, faster gears (larger ROF) and more powerful motors. SHORT STROKE, as the name implies, refers to the shortened piston running distance caused by the removal of four teeth from the piston gear.

The danger in not using a SHORT STROKE gear is that the teeth of the free-returning piston collide with the first teeth of the piston gear. Such a collision can result in permanent damage to the piston, gears, or other internal components. Gearboxes with SHORT STROKE have about 1.2 J or 350/360 FPS. This is a configuration designed for most CQB limits on airsoft fields and allows higher rate of fire (ROF) than the FULL STROKE version. The FULL STROKE version has a stronger spring, so there is no fear of piston and sprocket collision because the piston drops faster. The FULL STROKE version generates about 1.9 J (440-450 FPS). The use of gears with 13:1 gear ratios results in increased rate of fire (ROF) and shorter (better) trigger response. The recommended motor for GATE EON Complete Gearboxes is 22-28 TPA.
